Team Leader: Prokop Závada
Our research
We investigate the dynamics of crustal scale deformation by combination of a range of geoscientific disciplines: structural geology, petrology, geochronology, geochemistry and analogue and computational modeling. Our group is working on the following topics:
- Mass transfer dynamics in the lithosphere related to folding and melting
- Relationship of the rheological structure of the lithosphere on the architecture of orogens
- Impact of magmatism on deformation in orogens
- Rheology of rocks reflected in their deformation textures
- Rock physical properties and microstructures of rocks
- Salt tectonics
- Geomorphology
- Analogue and computational modeling (e.g. salt tectonics, mountain building processes, anisotropy of rock physical properties)
