Seismological statione Kašperské Hory (KHC) in the Šumava Mts. was founded in 1961 deep in the former golden mine Kristýna in the valley of the Golden creek. It is considered as one of the most sensitive stations in the world. Routine very-broadband recording was established at KHC by Axel Plešinger in 1973. Station is equipped with three-componet short- and braodband sensors. Digital data are transferrd in real time to the Institute of Geophysics. Station KHC is part of the Czech Regional Seismic Network. Museum of seismometry was established at KHC. Visitor can attend it every first Saturday from May to September.
